Violin and Piano Lessons

Esther's Music Studio offers private violin and piano lessons to children ages 4-18 and adults. Lessons follow a carefully structured sequence of curriculum while also adjusting to the specific needs of each student. Lessons cover basics of playing, listening to music, music theory and history, technique and solo repertoire. Many genres are explored including classical, folk, fiddle, and a smattering of pop and music from around the world. Our goal is to help students learn to play the violin or piano while playing music they enjoy.
Group classes are held approximately once a month and are included in the monthly tuition. These group classes are a great way to build community with other violin and piano students and their families, as well as give students an opportunity to learn how to make music with others. There will be one recital at the end of the academic year and a number of smaller performances throughout the year.

Please note that piano lessons only go up through intermediate levels. Students who wish to continue to more advanced piano music will need transfer to another teacher.

Musikgarten

Esther's Music Studio offers Musikgarten classes to children ages 0-5 along with their caregivers. Musikgarten is a licensed program with several age group options. Read below for more information on the age groups offered at this studio.
The goal of these classes is to expose young children to music in an enjoyable and family bonding environment. We will explore several different instruments and many movement activities. Musikgarten will help pave the way towards gaining music literacy as we explore basic elements of music structure such as rhythm and tonal patterns.
Musikgarten classes are located at Stent School House in Jamestown and registration is through their website.
Family Music for Babies (ages newborn-18 months)
Play with your baby through bouncing and rocking, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, and moving - all set to music. Music play activities are designed to increase your child's curiosity about music, develop listening skills and a sense of beat, and establish the foundation for singing and musical thought.

Cycle of Seasons (ages 3-5)
Celebrate your child's love of nature and growing independence through musical activities focused on the seasons. Classes are designed to build attention and self-expression and include singing, chanting, moving, listening, musical games, exploring musical instruments, creative movement, and storytelling.

Pre-Violin Class

Esther's Music Studio offers pre-violin classes to children ages 4-6 along with their caregivers. This class will help pave the way to excellent technique and beautiful tone once your child is ready to play the violin. We will use the Wee Violin curriculum by Crystal Boyack as well as elements from the Suzuki Method in order to set your child up for successful violin lessons.

Caregivers will participate alongside their child while singing, chanting, moving, listening, playing musical games, and aiding their child during instruction. Each child will learn with a pre-violin made out of an empty macaroni box and a dowel bow while they learn the basics of violin posture and technique - all set to music. Once your child is ready, they will graduate to a real violin and begin transitioning to private violin lessons.

It is expected that caregivers will learn the activities in class and continue to teach these to their child at home as well as complete listening activities assigned by the teacher.
